Senior Living Resident Spotlight – Frances Purcell

Mrs. Frances Purcell was born and raised in Washington. D.C. and spent the entirety of her childhood along with her brother, Jay and sister Florence. After graduating high school, Frances went on to further her education at the University of Virginia where she initially met her future husband Woody while he was a patient of hers at the hospital.

Frances told Woody she would only date him if he finished school and got a degree, to which he obliged. Frances and Woody went on to get married and have 3 daughters and now have 3 grandchildren.

Frances worked as a public health nurse for a number of years serving the Orange, Albemarle and Charlottesville communities, while Woody worked in sales and marketing for Ford, Toyota and Subaru through the years.

She is a member of Rapidan Emmanuel Church and was instrumental in helping rebuild the church after flooding in 1995 and 96. While she wasn’t working or tending to her family Frances could be found painting, doing needle point or singing. Despite all the accomplishments she’s achieved in her life nothing compares to the pride she takes in raising her three daughters who are all successful in careers of their own.
