
Walter Rogers Sr. was born in Charlottesville, VA to Walter and Doris Rogers. He was raised in Greene County where he lived for 18 years. He was the youngest child and has 2 sisters, Ethel, and Dorothy.
Walter met his wife of 55 years, Shirley, at Pot and Kettle in Culpeper where he was introduced by his brother-in-law. Shirley worked part time at Blue Bell and in the kitchen at Orange Elementary School. Together they had 1 son, Walter Rogers Jr (Gordonsville). He has 2 grandchildren, Jennifer, and Jason.
Walter worked at Silk Mill then started as a lineman for a power company and then went to UVA for 42 years as Maintenance Supervisor.
His greatest accomplishment in life is his son and his career at UVA. He loves collecting metal tractors, enjoys gardening and watching sports. His favorite teams are UVA college football, Miami Dolphins, and the New York Yankees. He enjoys reading his bible every morning and loves to watch old westerns on the television.
