Ms. Doris Shumake was born and raised in Louisa, Virginia and attended Louisa County High School. After high school Doris worked for the Bank of America in Orange for ten years. Doris and her husband, Buddy, moved to Orange, Virginia in 1960 and raised two sons, Mark and Shawn. She retired from working for the Orange County school board. Doris is very active; she has volunteered at Dogwood Village for the past twenty one years and currently does our weekly News Currents program on Thursday mornings. Doris also volunteers at the Orange Visitor Center, The Heart Association and is an active member of Orange Baptist Church. She loves to travel and enjoys sharing her travel stories with our residents. Doris and her husband are UVA fans and love to attend sporting events. She also enjoys estate sales and working on their home that they are restoring in Louisa County. Doris is pictured with Florence Burruss.
